On Friday 22nd June 2012 a team from Valour Finance Group took part in the 'Three Peaks Challenge'; climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours.

The team raised over £3,000 for the Together Trust; a local charity based in Cheadle. The money was used to send a group of deprived children on a week long adventure holiday of a lifetime.

During the challenge the team had to climb and descend all three of the highest peaks in the UK unaided and on foot and had to drive over 780 miles all within 24 hours.

Why is this a tough challenge?

This is an endurance challenge that pushes many to their physical limits. The clock starts once the team leave their vehicle on foot at Fort William near Ben Nevis and will only finish once they have descended Snowdon and arrive back at their vehicle.

Members of the team will have to initially climb and descend Ben Nevis which is the highest peak in Scotland and the UK (4,409 feet) before driving to the lake district and climbing and descending Scafell Pike - the highest peak in England (3,209 feet). This is made even tougher because it will have to be done in total darkness in order to complete the whole challenge within 24 hours. Finally, the team will drive to Wales and climb and descend Snowdon (3,506 feet) all within 24 hours from start to finish.

The team are looking for sponsorship for the 2012 event with all proceeds raised being donated to the "Together Trust"; a local charity based in Cheadle which looks after and rehabilitates children with special needs and children that have been abused or abandoned by their parents or carers.

The charity receives funding for the essential caring of the children from the state, however there is no funding available to give any of the children in their care any day trips or holidays. The team are hoping to raise £5,000 to give fifteen of the children most in need a weekend activity holiday in the Lake District. Here they can take part in confidence building events and learn more about the countryside. This may seem expensive, but due to the special requirements of the children, at least five full time carers need to be with them at all times.
